Roundtable: Acting early, saving lives: Prevention and promotion as key aspects of universal health coverage

September 9, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 pm

UHC means that all people and communities can access the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, of sufficient quality to be effective, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship. Despite this, UHC efforts to date have focused more on treatment than promotion and prevention. This roundtable, co-hosted by Chatham House and the UK Working Group on NCDs, will explore issues in advancing prevention and health promotion in pursuit of UHC, such as:  1. Opportunities and enabling factors for ensuring that NCD prevention and mental health promotion are a key aspect of pursuing UHC 2. Financing and delivering prevention and promotion services, and to reflect on the potential of primary health care to support NCD and mental health goals. 3. Identify strategies for championing the case for investment in NCD prevention and mental health promotion. *Participation is by invitation only.*
