Founded in 2009, the NCD Alliance is a non-governmental organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland. It has developed a robust global network of more than 2,000 organisations in 170 countries, including global and national NGOs, scientific and professional associations, academic and research institutions, private sector entities and dedicated individuals. Today, the NCD Alliance also coordinates a network of 55 national and regional NCD Alliances, strengthening these vital platforms for unified action.
The NCD Alliance is a recognised global thought leader on NCD policy and practice, a convener of the civil society movement, a partner to governments and UN agencies, and an advocate for people at risk of or living with NCDs. With a strong track record, vision and expertise, the NCD Alliance is uniquely placed to drive the NCD agenda forward.
It uses targeted advocacy and outreach to ensure that NCDs are recognised as a major cause of poverty, a barrier to economic development, and a global emergency. This is done by working with a wide range of partners and organisations, speaking with a united voice at international meetings, mobilising the 2,000 organisations in our network, producing the latest policy work on NCDs and building the evidence base, convening expert working groups on a range of topics, and pressing governments to recognise that NCDs are a global development priority requiring an urgent response.
The NCD Alliance maintains strategic relations with the World Health Organization, the UN and governments, and staff in Geneva, London and New York, putting it at the forefront of elevating NCDs onto the global health and development agenda. The NCDA also leads on a variety of initiatives and in-depth tailored programmes to develop civil society capacity to deliver progress on NCD prevention and control.
The 2018 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs presents the next key opportunity for the NCD Alliance and its network to demand global political action and national time-bound commitments on NCDs. Join us!
