Investing in NCD prevention and control, keys to achieving Ghana’s Health Care for All.

The overall objective of the national meeting is to discuss challenges and priorities of Ghanaians within the context of NCDs and provide concrete policy actions and recommendations to addresse NCDs in the lead up to the UN High Level Meeting on NCDs on 23rd September, 2019 and beyond.

In the context of the SDGs and UHC, this event will: 
• Provide an understanding about achieving UHC through the lens of NCDs prevention, treatment and care and meaningful involvement of people living with NCDs (PLWNCDs)
• Serve to present inspiring stories of PLWNCDs and concrete solutions provided for implementation
• To provide an opportunity to discuss alternative/domestic resources to finance health and the National Health Insurance
• Build public and media support to accelerate action on NCDs and the Ghana Advocacy Agenda and UHC

The event will be preceded with a press conference mainly to discuss NCDs in the context of achieving Ghana’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and create media opportunities for people living with NCDs to share their lived experiences and government to share with the media progress and achievement chalked in delivering global commitments on NCDs in the lead up to the UN High Level Meeting.

There will also be panel discussion which will include panel members from Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Tourism Authority, National Health Insurance Authority, NCD Programme and CSOs etc. The panel will address issues regarding control and prevention of NCDs from their institutions perspective, obstacles addressing NCDs and provide recommendations to addressing Ghana’s UHC and Primary Health for All. Identify cost-effective strategies to addressing NCDs and health in general.
