SUMMARY:Roundtable: Acting early\, saving lives: Prevention and promotion as key aspects of universal health coverage
DESCRIPTION:UHC means that all people and communities can access the promotive\, preventive\, curative\, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need\, of sufficient quality to be effective\, while also ensuring that the use of these services does not expose the user to financial hardship. Despite this\, UHC efforts to date have focused more on treatment than promotion and prevention. This roundtable\, co-hosted by Chatham House and the UK Working Group on NCDs\, will explore issues in advancing prevention and health promotion in pursuit of UHC\, such as:  1. Opportunities and enabling factors for ensuring that NCD prevention and mental health promotion are a key aspect of pursuing UHC 2. Financing and delivering prevention and promotion services\, and to reflect on the potential of primary health care to support NCD and mental health goals. 3. Identify strategies for championing the case for investment in NCD prevention and mental health promotion. *Participation is by invitation only.*

SUMMARY:NCDs Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:1.	According to the study done for 105 physicians to determine if they were able to take care of epilepsy\, only 49\, 5 % were able to give the true definition of this disease. Thus\, insufficient information in healthcare will probably predict an enormous lack of knowledge among young people and the population not only for epilepsy but also other non communicable diseases. Burundi Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance will organize a four -day’s event competition on NCDs. The main target will be young people mostly living with NCDs or at risk of developing the diseases. The event is named:” NCDs Summer camp”. A hundred of questions related to NCDs and its risk factors as well as means of management and prevention will be elaborated. The game is structured into 4 steps and different prizes will be provided to the four winners. During the period\, BNCDA will take the opportunity to raise awareness on NCDs\, its risk factors and the Universal Health Coverage by focusing on the 5 priorities of the campaign. The involvement of stakeholders is a key to the competition and they will get the messages on universal health access. It will be an opportunity to advocate for access to affordable care for all. Young people living with non-communicable diseases will be the priority from the starting to the end of the activity. Patients’ stories will be collected in a report to present to the stakeholders to hold them accountable and set up effective policies to curb the growing threat of NCDs. In short\, the activity will include: Game questions-answers\, NCDs awareness\, advocacy\, UHC\, stigma reduction\, youth health leadership and civil society engagement.

SUMMARY:Media & Youth engagement in prevention and control of NCDs.
DESCRIPTION:With the accumulated experience from first global week for actions organized by Rwanda NCD Alliance in Rwanda in 2018\, Rwanda NCDA dedicated one week long (2nd -8th September 2019) for media and youth engagement in prevention and control of NCDs. The overall goal of the week is to create increased awareness and government action on NCDs by facilitating media (TV\, newspapers etc.) to do special features on PLWNCDs and NCDs in general. \nWe have chosen to engage the media because of its powerful potential to impact on awareness and advocacy. Media has the power to inform a large population in a variety of accessible ways\, to change perceptions and contribute to social and behavior change by setting the agenda and focusing public interest on a particular issue. \nWe acknowledge that young people are the ones to change the mindset\, understand the role of everyone and work together from different disciplines to solve health problems the society is facing. They must be the change agents who should go back to the community\, create awareness and educate the general population about living styles for them to make informed decisions to human security in the future

SUMMARY:World Alzheimer's Month
DESCRIPTION:Events for World Alzheimer’s Month will be taking place throughout September under the theme of ‘Let’s Talk About Dementia’. Each year\, Alzheimer associations from around the world unite to organise advocacy and information provision events\, as well as Memory Walks and fundraising days. The impact of this campaign is growing\, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global issue. Many individuals delay taking action to seek out information\, help\, advice and support when they are first worried about their memory or that of a family member\, friend or colleague. This September is our time for action; to tackle fear and stigma surrounding dementia everywhere.
